Nothing beats a summer day on Noosa’s north facing Main Beach. It’s a well protected cove with beautiful golden sand, pure blue water and only the slightest hint of a wave.

About the artwork
Take a big deep breath and relax, put your feet in the sand and feel that gentle summer breeze tickle your face. Not a surfer in sight as the gentle ocean calms itself at the end of another beautiful summers day.

About the artwork
Fraser Island is part three of the Sunrise Quadtych (four unique artworks that form a set) that explore the hues of the Australian sunrise as experienced in different corners of this big island.
Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island, with breathtaking sandy beaches along its east coat that travel as far as the eye can see (or less, if there’s a strong mist coming off the surf). Standing on the beach at low tide on a bluebird day and watching the sun come up through the rods of fisherman dotted along the beach is almost a spiritual experience.

About the artwork
There’s a whole beach of burning hot sand between your towel and the water’s edge.
And there’s literally nothing more Australian than committing to that barefoot run across the searing sand, yelling “ouch” at an increasing speed and volume every step you take, until you reach the wet sand in the shallow waters. Even then, it still really really hurts.
But you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thirsty Merc is an Australian band who broke through to the charts with their hit “In The Summertime” in 2004.
It is quite possible there is no other song in existence that more accurately describes Australian’s love of, and longing for, Summer.
“Take me back to the sweet times, the hot nights. Everything is going to be alright, in the summertime, baby, in the summertime. And even if I have to wait till next year, I don’t care, all I know is that I’ll meet you there. In the summertime, baby, in the summertime, that is where I’ll be”.
In The Summertime, Thirsty Merc, 2004.
In this piece, we explore the relationship between three key Summer essentials: the beach umbrella, the sand, and the sea.

“We’re 3km south of the Indian Head cutting, look for the striped red flag”.
If you’re lucky enough to spend time on the east coast of K’gari (Fraser Island) camping with friends, you’ll want to pack a flag. Tying your flag to a pole at the top of the sand dunes will help you read the wind all day and night, and it’s also the easiest way to tell your friends how to find you when they drive up the beach to visit.
